Stepfanie Kramer is best known for her iconic portrayal of the tough-minded Detective Sergeant Dee Dee McCall on the NBC police drama Hunter (1984–1990). She began her professional acting career in the late 1970s while still a student at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Early guest appearances included shows like Starsky and Hutch (1977), and she appeared in the comedy The Man with Two Brains (1983). In 1983, she joined the NBC sitcom We Got It Made as a series regular.
Her breakthrough came in 1984 when she was cast as Dee Dee McCall opposite Fred Dryer in Hunter. The series, which ran for seven seasons with Kramer starring in 130 episodes across six seasons. Her strong, no-nonsense performance as the dedicated detective helped make the show a hit. She was voted one of the "most beautiful women in the history of television" by TV Guide viewers in 1988. Kramer reprised the role in the 2003 TV movies Hunter: Back in Force and Hunter: Return to Justice.
Beyond Hunter, Kramer has continued acting in guest and recurring roles on series such as The Secret Circle (2011), CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2000), and films including The Cutting Edge: Going for the Gold (2006) and The Crossing (2019). She has also written, directed, and produced for television.
